Service Overview

We’ve found that so many of our patients see braces and orthodontic treatments as being for children and adolescents. But we believe that everyone deserves an attractive and healthy smile –regardless of their age.

At LN Dental Centre, we work with patients of all ages – providing orthodontic treatments designed to correct the alignment of your teeth. We incorporate orthopedic interventions in many cases, reducing the stress of correcting irregularities of the jaw and bite with braces alone.

How do Braces Work?

Braces and other orthodontic appliances straighten the teeth by applying gentle pressure to gradually move them into the desired position. Traditionally, braces were used in virtual isolation to straighten misaligned teeth. But the modern approach that we take at LN Dental sees many of our orthodontic treatments paired with orthopedic interventions.

Each case is slightly different. But Dr. Hoang Nhan will create a customized treatment program for you that will describe the specifics of how your treatment will proceed. Some patients will immediately get a full set of braces while others might proceed with orthodontic treatment in phases.

What Are Braces Used For?

Some of the most common orthodontic corrections made possible with the use of braces include treatments for:

  • Overbites – where the upper front teeth protrude over the lower front teeth
  • Underbites – where the lower teeth jut out past the upper teeth
  • Crossbites – where the upper teeth meet inside the lower teeth
  • Open bites – where the upper and lower teeth don’t line up properly

We provide orthodontic treatments to children as young as seven years old – because the earlier we identify and correct an orthodontic problem, the better. But that does not mean that orthodontic treatment cannot be effective well into maturity. Most patients can expect treatment to last anywhere from six to 30 months, depending on the severity of the orthodontic problem.

Braces For Kids

Early orthodontic treatments are perhaps the surest way to prevent certain conditions from developing. We’ve treated emerging orthodontic conditions in children as young as seven and eight. Treating youngsters while they are still growing often means that we can avoid additional treatment when they are older.

Some of the orthodontic and orthopedic therapies and appliances we offer include:

  •  A trainer for kids. This appliance looks similar to a mouthguard and can help teeth grow properly and correct habits such as tongue thrusting.
  •  The Myobrace. Wearing this appliance and performing myofunctional exercises can actually eliminate the need for braces because it can help correct many of the problems that lead to crooked teeth.
  • Individual Patient (IP) orthodontic appliances. These custom-made brackets from the United States are designed for each patient’s unique case, allowing for more efficient, precise teeth moving.

Braces For Aldult

If you missed out on the opportunity to have braces as a child, or if you have suffered an orthodontic relapse with teeth that have shifted out of alignment over the years, LN Dental Centre may be able to help. At our Chester Hill, NSW clinic, we offer adult braces that can give you a straight, beautiful smile that might also be healthier.

Clear Aligner Braces

Many adults are not comfortable with the idea of wearing traditional braces due to the way they appear. Clear aligner braces are a strongly viable alternative for most, permitting adults the opportunity to forego the months or even years with metal brackets in their smiles.

Because the clear aligners are removable, you can take them out for eating and cleaning your teeth. This greatly reduces the imposition of any restrictions on what you can and cannot eat. Our chosen clear aligner product, Clear Correct, ensures that the imposition on your life is minimal.

In addition, if you will be taking part in a social event or if you have an important work meeting, you can take out the aligners for a few hours without impacting your treatment. We do recommend, however, that you wear the aligners for at least 22 hours each day to keep treatment on course.

Clear aligner braces work by gently nudging the teeth into the desired position with a series of fitted aligners that you change out every few weeks. Busy adults appreciate the fact that treatment is usually shorter than with traditional braces—generally six to 18 months—and you need fewer trips to the dental clinic since there are no adjustments necessary.

Traditional Orthodontics

Sometimes, the demands of a particular orthodontic treatment are beyond what can be achieved with clear aligners. In these cases, we may recommend that even adults make the choice to have traditional braces put in.

For patients who have bite-related issues, orthodontics can protect oral health by minimizing the risk of undue wear on the teeth, chewing problems, and other jaw-related difficulties. Though we offer a range of options designed to minimize the visual elements of your treatment. Tooth-colored ceramic options, and often the choice to have braces on the back of your teeth can each be undertaken so that their presence is barely noticeable.

  • What Are Dental Braces?

Dental braces are a device that is used to straighten crooked or misaligned teeth. Braces work by applying constant pressure on each tooth to reposition them and create a gorgeous, straight smile. As your teeth shift over time, the braces need to be tightened in order to achieve the pressure needed to move your teeth into the proper position.

  • What Are The Different Types of Braces?

When patients think braces, they usually think of the metal type. While these are certainly the most common and most affordable, they are not the only type of braces available.

Metal braces are made up of wires and metal brackets, making them extremely noticeable. On the other hand, ceramic braces, which are the same shape and size as metal braces, feature clear or tooth-coloured brackets that are subtle, but can stain easily.

Another subtle option is invisible braces, commonly known as Invisalign, which are clear plastic aligners that shift the position of your teeth over time.

  • What Are The Benefits of Orthodontic Treatment?

While many patients turn to orthodontic treatment to enhance the appearance of their smile, there are many other benefits including:

    • Improved oral function
    • Minimised pain or stress of jaw joints
    • Easier cleaning of teeth and reduced risk of gum disease, plaque build up and tooth decay
    • Reduced risk of wear or damage to teeth

If left untreated, many oral health issues can worsen over time. Talk to your experienced dentist at LN Dental to find out if orthodontic treatment is right for you.

  • Why do I Need Braces?

There are many reasons why people of all ages require braces. Commonly, braces are used to fix orthodontic issues such as crooked, misaligned or gapped teeth. Braces can also be used to alter an overbite, underbite or crossbite, and can even reposition your jaw.

They are also a popular choice for cosmetic purposes, with many patients choosing braces to help create a straight smile. If you’re unsure if you need braces, or if they are a suitable option for you, call the team at LN Dental today to book a consultation.

  • Am I Too Old for Orthodontic Treatment?

Contrary to popular belief, braces are no longer just for kids or teenagers. Many adults undertake orthodontic treatment for a variety of reasons, including improving their smile and overall confidence or correcting dental issues that have developed. As long as a patient’s teeth and gums are healthy, orthodontic treatment can be started at any age.
